Saturday 6th May saw the crowds swell at Loughgall, there is always a flurry of activity when the Apple Blossom Open arrives at the Country Park and we had good weather to go with it, that generally puts smiles on faces.

As for the golf there was a good turnout and some excellent scoring, the top 5 scores all hitting the same figure and were only seperated on the countback.

The best score of the day was Adam Kerr with 42 points playing off a 5 handicap, that is tremendous golf well done Adam. 2nd place goes to Sam Duffy also with 42 points off a 24 h.cap. 3rd was Albert Mulligan again on 42 points playing off 15. Willie Turner came in 4th with another 42 points playing off 16. That was great scoring fellas and nothing between you all. The best Gross was Jonny McKnight, well done mate!

The section winners were Davy McAdam 0-12, Eddie Millar 13-18 and Matt Bown 19-28 (Matt also had 42 points). The front 9 went to young Alan Ball and the back 9 was taken by Dessie Nixon. The best junior score was Adam Proctor with 36 points off his 16 handicap, very well done to all!

Just one inter-club competition took place over the weekend, that was the Jimmy Bruen which was played at Rossmore, unfortunately we did not qualify, better luck next year fellas.

A reminder to those who like playing during the week, the Wednesday Sweep sponsored by Hewitt Meats starts this Wednesday 9th May.

This Saturday`s event is Keegans Bar Strokeplay.

Just a note about singles and doubles competitions, because of the amount of team events being played at the moment there will be a little discretion regarding the date matches have to be played by, however dont be taking advantage to the extreme. Matches that run by there date a little should not affect the next deadline, that match should be played on time.

Another reminder, there is a Sunday Sweep in progress for anyone who likes to get playing on a Sunday, scorecards go into the top box alongside the computer.

As always….. Enjoy your Golf!
