Club Stableford result and Club Team Challenge from 27/2/2010

01/03/2010

The semi-final`s of the Club Team Challenge Cup were played to a finish on Saturday morning on a much lengthened loughgall course that was a very refreshing challenge to play with the Holt Shield team booking their place in the final with a convincing 4.5 - 0.5 win against Ross Kelly`s Tigers.

The Holt Shield teams wins came from Jason Wilson and Stephen Mullen winning by 2 holes, Harry Clougher and Kieran Kelly winning by 5 holes, Paul Lyness and Andrew Currie by 2 holes, Allen McCartney and Neil Walker winning by 3 holes, and Philip Morrow and Shane O`Neill got a half in their game against Adam Galbraith and Paddy McEllmeel.

In the second semi-final saw The Rossmore Team advance to the final with a 4-1 win over Ian Magill`s Ulster Fourball Old Boys. The Rossmore team’s wins came from Walter Beattie and Jonathan Lockhart winning by 1 hole, Joel Kennedy and Jonathan McKnight won their game by 4 holes, Aaron Agg and Eugene Scullion played great golf in their match winning by 5 holes, the fourth match was won by Rossmore`s captains day winner Jeff Armstrong by 2 holes against club singles runner-up Richard Abbott which had to be played in a singles match after both teams had been disappointingly let down by a player failing to turn out. Ulster Fourball Old Boys only win came from their team captain Ian Magill and an inspired Jonathan Cousins who notched up five birdies to win by 5 holes.

The Club Team Challenge Cup final between the Holt Shield team and the Rossmore team will be played next Saturday 6th march at 9am.

The club stableford event at the weekend was won by 7 handicapper Jonathan McNabb with a winning score of 40 pts. Runner-up was ex Rossmore player Stephen Crowe with a fine score of 36 pts of his 13 handicap. Third spot went to John Allen also with 36 pts. The juvenile prize was won by Daniel Huey with 37 pts. Only two players recorded a “2” in the club stableford with Jonathan McNabb getting his at the 3rd hole and Stephen Crowe at the 15th.

There will be a club stableford event next Saturday 6th march. Players are reminded that the tee box will be closed from 9 am-9.45 am due to the final of the Club Team Challenge Cup.
