08/02/2010
Entries are now starting to pick up again for Loughgall`s Club Stableford event and the terrific condition of the course meant there was some good scores returned. The winner was Jonathan McNabb Who shot 45 pts off his 7 handicap. Jonathan played very consistent golf scoring 21 pts on the front nine and a brilliant 24 pts 3 under par coming home. The runner up was Seamus Golding who scored 43 pts off his 17 handicap. Third place went to 11 handicapper Keith Campbell with a score of 41 pts. The gross score went to John Currie and Ben McAlister picked up the Juvenile prize with 43 pts on a course that is still playing short.
Only four players scored a “2” at the weekend with Derick Hynes getting his at the 3rd, Paul Lyness et the 5th, Clive Currie at the 13th, and Jonathan McNabb getting an eagle at the 14th for his “2”. There will be a club stableford next sat 13th February. Player`s should be reminded that the tee box will be closed from 8.30 am-10 am due to the first round off the Club Team Challenge Cup. The much anticipated Club Team Challenge Cup gets under way this weekend with Neil Walker`s Holt Shield team up against a very much inform Badboy`s team, and rumour has it that a big wager in the way of Holt Shield team captaincy is laid on the outcome of this match teeing off at 8.30 am. The second match on Saturday morning at 9.15 am see`s Eddies Eagle`s challenging the club secretary`s Rossmore team, just hope Eddies Eagles don’t go like their namesake Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards did in the 1988 winter Olympics’ - down the big slippery slope!!
