McNabb wins by 3 shots in Loughgall Stableford

Johnathan McNabb played the course 2 under par to convincingly win by 3 clear points in the Loughgall Stableford competition held on Saturday past.  The course is being played off the white markers so Johnathan had a great round when you consider the lack of run in these damp conditions.  If it was any damper there would have been no golf played, only for a couple good days before the weekend otherwise the golf report would have read…. Gone Fishing!

Second place went to Willie Turner with an excellent 41 points.

There were only four 2s recorded this week and they were by Aaron Agg, Mark Gilpin, Brian Nixon jnr and finally our competition winner Johnathan McNabb.

The numbers were a little down for the competition due to the Team Challenge being played on the same day.  Results of this weekend Team Challenge matches…. Lakeside beat Holt Shield Team 6.5 to 5.5, Captains Team beat Holt Shield Select 7 to 5 and the Ulster Cup Team beat Nixons Dream Team 8 to 4.

A wee reminder to any team captain, please let Barry Rayner know the scores of any matches played asap, a text message would do the trick fine otherwise the info will not get put in the weekly report.  This will also be the case throughout the season in all competitions…Thank you!

Just a point which came to my attention over the weekend, I noticed some members playing off the green tees on Saturday morning, incase anyone does not know… we are playing off the white markers in competitions at the moment.  The golfers I saw and spoke to are good solid members of the club, they said they were not in the competition, ofcourse that is their choice, but if everyone thought that way there would be no competitions and no club.  If we do not support the club by playing in the competitions how does the club survive…? Its your club…. you have to put in to get something out….?

Good luck, enjoy your golf and keep playing the competitions, competitive golf will only improve your game!
