Kevin Keegan’s Presidents Day at Loughgall Golf Club……..

Kevin Keegan’s Presidents Day at Loughgall Golf Club……..

A surprisingly decent day considering the weather which has been swirling around the Atlantic off the UK and Ireland, however our President had everything organised for the big day including the weather it seems!  Kevin Keegan has had a two year tenure in the post of President also a past Captain and a Trustee, he is very much hands on and a prime mover and shaker within the club… and some say also on the dance floor?  Apart from his dedication to LGC he is also known as a very likeable character and there would be few if anyone who would disagree with that.  As Kevin said in his short speech at the prize giving/meal in the Famous Grouse, he has enjoyed his time in the limelight and is equally looking forward to passing the honour of being President to the next man…. whoever that may be.  On behalf of the members of Loughgall Golf Club I would like to thank Kevin and his predecessor James Hewitt for everything they have done for the club, it would be a lesser place without them!

There were some lovely prizes up for grabs for those who produced the big scores on the day…. and the big prize went to Richard Abbott!  Richard’s score of 41 point’s was good enough to see his name on the President’s Cup, although it was a close run thing because Davy McCrory also had 41 points but Richard won on the countback.  Very unlucky Davy the same thing happened on Captain’s Day this year with Stuart Eagle pushing Willie McWilliams into 2nd place on a countback!  Third place went to Eugene Scullion with a score of 40 points and Graham Buckley 4th with 38 points, well done fellas.  The best gross score was Jamie Mulholland’s super round of 75, the best senior score was Walter Beattie’s score of 36 points.  Section winners were Stephen Mullan 0-12, Alan Mills 13-18, James Crawford 19+, front 9 Stephen Mills, back 9 Pat Keegan, nearest the pin at the 13th was Jamie Mulholland and the longest drive goes to Robert Treanor…. finally a longest drive prize Robert!

The meal was lovely as always and thanks to the hard work of Sharon and her staff everyone got their meal in good time, that’s why we keep going back there… it’s hard to beat!  The evening went very well and we all had a great time…. some enjoyed it more than others and no doubt will have paid the price for doing so!

The Weekly Challenge sponsored by Murder Mystery NI was won by Stuart Eagle with 42 points, William Camblin came 2nd with 38 points just nudging Pat Keegan into 3rd on a countback!

The Juniors, Section A 9 hole competition off the red markers….1st Fintan Walsh 26 points, 2nd Ben Currie 20 points, 3rd Daniel Brown 19 points.  Winner of Section B 6 hole competition off the blue markers…. Gabija Rackauskaite with 15 points!  Well done all the juniors, keep practicing, keep competitive and most of all enjoy it, I have no doubt you are going to get better with every week, don’t worry about the occasional poor game everyone gets them…. even Rory and Tiger!

Good luck and enjoy your golf!
